Dairy Farm Calf / Heifer Herdsman Position available on 530 cow, family-owned, modern dairy farm in Farley Iowa. This operation is known in its community as a solid, well ran business that is kept clean and neat. Its workforce is stable with low turnover. It is simply a good place to work if you enjoy caring for healthy high-producing dairy cattle in a clean modern facility.
Being nurturing, responsible, dependable, an independent thinker and problem solver are more important than having lots of experience. Most people can learn this job if they care about animals. Some of the best people in this position have been nurses and CNAs working part-time.
Responsibilities include caring for new born calves and heifers until they weigh 200 pounds. Will also be responsible for working with the vet on vaccination, treatment, and animal welfare protocols. Salary and benefit package based on experience and education.
